Under The Gun - Marvelous Oil by Garnier w/ a little extra

Welcome my loves!!! Today I end my trial of Garnier's Marvelous Oil. I also wanted to show you a personal favorite of mine for hair color. These products were either bought with my own money or received as free trial samples. Let's get to it!

I started my trial with my hair looking like this which is a hot mess.

As you can see, I'm a natural blonde and I color my hair black. I have been for about 15/16 years now. I was in desperate need of a color at this point.

Ssssoooooooooo......

This happened:
Yes, three boxes of hair color. My hair is past my butt. Usually I only color my roots and then once a year or once every two years I recoil or the ends of my hair.

You heard that right. Once a year or two for a recolor. I have blonde hair!!! This stuff barely fades at all, but for the purpose of trying the marvelous oil I decided to do the whole sha-bang.

If you are not familiar with Bigen permanent powder hair color, it's amazing. No peroxide, no harsh chemicals, just the powder and water and your set to go! I very highly recommend this hair color, especially if your hair is already damaged or your looking to change colors but don't want the damage involved with developer style hair colors.

Here was the glorious results:

As you can tell my hair is still slightly damp in this picture, but the color and coverage are fantastic!

NOW! It's time for this:
Considering you only need a very small amount of this product, this is a very generous sample. And it comes with a $1 off coupon on the back.

The feeling of this in your hands is slightly slick and oily but it's not "greasy" if you understand what I mean. Hopefully you do. The smell was very pleasant and not over whelming at all.

I put a dime size amount in my hand and rubbed my hands together and then worked it through from root to end.

I let my hair dry naturally, combed it with a wide tooth comb, and then styled it as usual.

Here is a picture in natural sunlight of my lions mane:

This is my hair after two days. I did not wash my hair during those two days. We all know a little natural oil is great for you hair and washing it to much is HORRIBLE for it.

A few things to note about this product:
1. My hair is still looking great and naturally shines but it's not an obnoxious shellac type shine that you can tell is fake.
2. The oil is extremely light weight. I didn't feel like my hair was weighed down nor did I have any type of nasty build up on my hair.
3. I did not have any problems with knotting and my hair stayed silky andbrush-able

Overall, I was pleased with the performance of this product, however, I do have other products that give similar results but maybe not exactly the same. I will do a comparison of those products in the near future.

I will say that if your hair is curly, frizzy, or knots easily, this may be the product for you. Keep your eyes open for free samples on Garnier's Facebook page or other social media platforms that they are on. You'll get a sample size that will last you three to five uses and a $1 off coupon. That's a damn good deal if you ask me.

Till the next product goes "Under the Gun".
Love you and appreciate your support!!
Maris

Under The Gun: L'oreal Magic Perfecting Base

Some things you should know:
This item was bought with my own money and is not sponsored in anyway. All opinions are strictly my own. All pictures of me in this post were done in 100% natural lighting.

Today's item under the gun is.... L'oreal Magic Perfecting Base!!!

This is a primer to put on your face that does the "blurring" effect. It fills in lines and gives your skin
a smoother appearance. At least... That's what the packaging says. Let's find out if it works shall we?

For this picture my face is freshly washed and is totally dry. I put the primer on the half of my face that my hand is up on. My skin did feel smoother. The primer was like a powder once you started spreading it. A little did go a long way. Sorry about my skin, it's being a bitch this week. Nail Polish in this pic is Julie G. It's sold is Rite Aid for $3.99 USD a bottle. The blue is "Kickin it". The gold is one of thier texture polishes "Golden Sunset".  On to the next step: Foundation!!

So here is a full face of foundation. I have acne prone skin which is pretty much under control the majority of the time. However, if I use foundations that are extremely thick and cake on my skin will only take so much of it before the bitch shows her claws. At this point I thought the side that had the primer on it looked much smoother. It also felt much smoother. My foundation and eye primer went on a bit better where the primer was. I do use a powder on top of a light liquid foundation. The primed side again look slightly better. I'm not talking worlds better, but I could tell a difference. So far this product is going good.

On to the real test!!!!
The rest of my face AND the rest of the day! This product does say that it helps keep your skin matte and wears all day. You can also put your moisturizer on in the morning before putting this primer on and it will help "lock in moisture". We'll see...

So here is the end of the day!

This lighting is a bit different since I'm trying to get the last bit of good sun for 100% natural lighting. This lipstick is not what I wore today and I felt like messing around. I've been on this lipstick kick lately. It's getting messy. Also decided to throw a fun little hair piece on.

Overall, this product isn't at all. It's like many other primers that are out there today that are a powdery gel. When you put them on they turn into an extremely fine powder. Hence the line filling and smoothing.

The Verdict:
I would use this product again. It did it's job all day. I did personally see a difference between the two sides of my face. I use NYX Jumbo stick in Milk as the base for my eyeshadow and that blended a bit more even on the primed side. Again, it wasn't a HUGE difference and the thing to remember is I had ZERO primer on the other side. I do stand firm in saying I would use this again.

If you want to try this product out for minimal investment check your local dollar trees! This mini size says it's a three week supply of everyday use. I'll buy that for a dollar!

As always, Thanks for stopping by to my haunted mansion. Until we meet again. May the moon shine bright on you ;)

Discontinued nail polish swatches!

I figured with my 400+ nail polishes I would start swatching a bunch that I've never used or have only worn once in the few years I've had some of these. So let's get started!

These polishes are by Arissa. I've had these for years and picked up the complete set from Cost Cutters. All pics are using three coats with no top coat. There were 4 polish colors for this summer collection, which, consequently work perfect for this season!

First up a color called Feisty. It's a bright neon style pink. I always found the formula of this color to be a bit thick. They dry in a semi matte coat and wear well alone or with a top coat.

Next up is a color called Coral. This has always been the thickest and you have to really watch your coats on this one. Great basic summer color though. It's not to over powering but it's still flashy.
As you can see this polish is extremely thick.

Next it's one of the sheer almost jelly like colors. I enjoy the formula of this one although I'm still not on the jelly or crellies band wagon but I'm trying. I will be working on a 3D pool effect with some sheer coats and jellies tomorrow. The name of this color is Tangerine.
As you can see this is a very sheer after 3 coats. The last of this collection is just as sheer but you will see the definite color difference between Tangerine and the next color.

Lastly we have the color Electric which is as sheer as the Tangerine but very VERY neon yellow. This is another fun one to wear and goes on so easy.

That does is for this post! Hope you enjoyed these. If you have any others from this brand I would love to hear about them!

See you on the flip side!

Indie Polish Review: Incidental Twin

I was incredibly lucky to win a giveaway hosted by Incidental Twin where I was able to pic out a full size polish of my choice! IT TOOK ME HOURS!!!!!! There were so many that I wanted I really started having a mental break down. HOWEVER! I did decide to go with NaNoWriMo. It's a glorious shimmery pale blue with pale blue iridescent very fine glitter in it that compliments the shade beautifully.

Now, the nail color is sheer, especially the first coat. Once you apply your second coat you'll start to see how opaque it gets. I personally did 4 thin coats hence why my free edge is slightly visible. Three  thicker coats and it would be 100% opaque.

Over all I'm super happy with this product and can't wait together my hands on more!

Please remember all opinions are my own and I am in no way paid for my opinions, they are strictly my honest reviews.

Atlantic Beach Soap Company Review!

In keeping with my personal tradition of preferring handcrafted soaps, lotions, shampoos, and all that good stuff I wanted to follow up my Facebook review post with a quick and easy blog post reviewing these products in case you don't follow on Facebook.

WARNING! Lots of pics ahead!

These bars are some of the more general, multipurpose soaps. These are referred to as small bars. They really aren't THAT small truthfully. The numbers on the bars indicate which recipe it is and as you can see, these alone are in the 700's so you can imagine the amount of different soaps alone. I want to stress that after purchasing these bars they did expand and move to the address that is in the top picture on this post.

Here are two examples of their exfoliant bars. I took the Almond Cherry Almond out so you could see the fine grounds of almonds in there. Chocolate Coffee has coffee grinds in it as it's exfoliant and if you don't already know, coffee is super for your skin, especially on cellulite for us poor souls that suffer with those types of issues.

These beauties are large bars. They come in all sorts of great scents and colors. Like all the soaps from this company, they lather great, wash off perfectly, and leave a nice scent behind. The two pictured here are more for dry skin. They include coconut oil and Shea butter as well as other natural moisturizing oils that are great for you skin.

Here are two samples of some of the glycerin soaps that are sold there. Again, lots of great scents and colors. High quality as usual. Really nice scents on these as well. I would of put a pic of the watermelon glycerin soap up but it looked and smelled so good I had to use it. Sorry :(

Here is a small selection of their yogurt soap line. Top left is frankincense and myrhh, top right is pure spicy clove, and the bottom is as it reads, Bayberry. It is somewhat hard to tell how much yogurt is actually in the bars in this picture because the two that are unwrapped are a pale color. I'm going to fix that for you now.

This is the Bayberry yogurt bar without its paper wrapper. As you can easily see, all those little white flecks all through the bar are yogurt. I can 100% assure you that all the yogurt bars are this loaded with wonderful, moisturizing yogurt. These bars lather great, wash off great, but they leave your skin quite a bit more moisturized than something like a glycerin soap. Everyone's skin is different so different soaps for different kinds!

This bad boy right here is AMAZING! This is active charcoal soap known by a few names. The most common names are Black Soap or African Black Soap. This is a detox soap. I personal use this from head to toe including my hair. If you wondering "Why in god green earth would you use a bar of soap on your hair?" Let me first say that all of the soap products from this company are safe to use all over including your hair. The reason I use black soap on my hair is that I have very oily, thin hair. Black soap will pull any bad toxins and oils out of your hair. If you are someone that is always using products in your hair like mouse, hair spray, styling gels, and pomades, then you are familiar with the build up your hair can accumulate and let's face it, regular shampoo doesn't really do crap to fix that. 1 wash of this soap is all you will need to rid your hair of it ALL! And I do mean All. The first time I used this in my hair I was absolutely astounded by how perfectly clean my hair was after one wash. I have hair to my knees, it takes me at least 3 to 4 washes with shampoo to get the oily feeling out of my hair normally. I was also very surprised by how voluminous and shiny my hair was when it dried. And no your eyes are not deceiving you, there is some yogurt in there and it's loaded with coconut oils since this can be a harsh soap. Both are fantastic for your hair as well.

Aaahhhhhh whipped body butter! How many of us have tried different brands and your skin is so oily Exxon could make a killing of it. I put a quick swipe on. MY arm so you can get an idea of the thickness. This body butter goes on super smooth, soaks right in with no residue, and leaves your skin felling like silk. I have yet to find a comparable whipped body butter to this yet. If you know of one, or you make them, please send a sample my way I would LOVE to try it out.

Now for something a bit more fun for either you or someone you may need a gift for.

Have a special occasion coming up? They have a complete line of bakery soaps. Cakes slices like these, cupcake soaps, truffle style soaps, and so much more. There is also a whole bakery line of bath bombs in all shapes and styles too. When I get my hands on some of those and get a chance to personal test them.

If you ever have any questions or comments please feel free to post them here or message me!

Intro

Hello everyone! In keeping with the times and social networking I've decided to take on a blog as well. Please check us out on Facebook. However, I'm just getting started, be kind to me ;).

Allow me to give you a little background on myself. I am a firm supporter of handmade products as well as art, makeup, nails, hair, fashion, and lots of other fun stuff. You'll find everything from product reviews, past and present projects, to handcrafted items for sale, and lots more fun.

My business won the Best of 2012 and the Best of 2013 in both Arts, Craft, and hobby store as well as Best card and gift shop in my respective local county. I also was awarded 2013's Best of Toms River award for Best business practices and for charitable work through my business like fund raisers, charity events, donations to local children's hospitals as well as other organizations like the American Cancer Foundation, American Diabetes foundation, and many others. I've had multiple pieces of poetry published through the years and maybe one day I'll get the time to write the books I've wanted to for a while. I'm a member of an awesome youtube channel crew called TheDnellTV where we do everything from food reviews, eating challenges, and punishment games. We are hoping to roll out our first few really big projects by this summer either being a zombie movie or broken down into episodes as well as a very funny punishment
